Expandable polystyrene (EPS)
The polystyrene is a synthetic aromatic polymer derived from styrene monomer. This is a rather poor barrier to oxygen and water vapor having a relatively low melting point. Polystyrene is one of the most used plastic, its production scale is several million tons per year. PS can be naturally transparent, but may be colored with dyes.
